Come, Enjoy the 2017 Festival of the Nativities.
Denmark Community Hall — Denmark (Lincoln County) Kansas
Saturday, December 2, 2017 — 10 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, December 3, 2017 — 1-5 p.m.
The historic hall with its beautiful wainscoting walls will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland. Approximately 250 Nativities will be on display. The Festival is sponsored by the Denmark Lutheran Church.
This year the featured nativity is loaned to the church by Royce Oppliger of Vesper, Kansas. Royce’s late wife, Yvonne Oppliger, loved to work with ceramics and she made the Nativity set in the early 1980’s. The crèche, made by Royce, is made of old barn wood, probably similar to a stable where Jesus was born. The Nativity set is now with his new family–Royce and Sharon Zier-Oppliger.
The Nativities are loaned to us by members and friends of the Denmark Community. It seems that each year we receive offers from various people stating that they have Nativities they would like to loan so that there always are some new and different ones on display.
Each adult attending will receive a ticket to be put into a drawing for a Nativity. Your donation will go towards the upkeep of our 139-year-old limestone Denmark Lutheran Church. Refreshments will be provided.
