There is a shortage of housing and skilled trades contractors in Lincoln County and the surrounding area providing an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneur(s) with the right skills to start a business. Several opportunities exist to help an entrepreneur(s) get established.
One opportunity is by working with the North Central Regional Planning Commission (NCRPC) in Beloit. The NCRPC is seeking contractors to bid on the various housing rehabilitation and weatherization projects they have in the area. The NCRPC maintains a list of appropriately licensed contractors and notifies them as projects become available. Typical project sizes range from $5,000-15,000 for weatherization projects and $15,000-30,000 for rehabilitation projects.
The projects through the NCRPC could offer an entrepreneur(s) the ability to become a recognized name and face in many area communities, build relationships with local governments and community organizations, and establish a reputation and references based on completed projects. Other benefits include a steady flow of work along with timely (and guaranteed) payment for services as work is completed.
