The Certified Nursing Assistant helps patients with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, toileting, feeding, moving safely, in-bed position changes, and caring for the patient’s environment, including a safe and clean environment in which to stay. She or he must be sensitive to the needs and desires of each patient and make an attempt to improve and enrich their hospital stay.
She or he provides patient care under the direction and supervision of the RN.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, current certification as a Nursing Assistant in Kansas, certification in CPR/AED/First Aid, and at least one year of experience, preferably in a hospital setting, long-term care setting or assisted living facility. Candidates must have a genuine desire to help others and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
This position covers each of these areas: acute care, skilled nursing care, emergency department, and outpatient services.
-Helps patient with all personal care functions as needed
-Helps patient at mealtimes and monitors the patient’s eating habits
-Helps patient to and from the bathroom, and daily walks as ordered
-Measures and records vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, etc., and reports any changes in condition to —
-Individualized and modified care according to the patient’s needs
-Collaborates with other healthcare team members to enhance the provision of patient care
-Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
-Communicates with patients and families regarding care
-Attends all staff meetings, training, and educational classes as required
-Performs other duties as assigned
-Cleans and organizes the patient’s room on a daily basis
-High school diploma or GED with further training to achieve certification
-Certified as a Nursing Assistant in Kansas
-Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications a plus
-Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain
composure under stress and maintain strict confidentiality
-Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
-Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working days, nights, weekends, and holidays
